World Read Aloud Day takes place on the 5th February 2025. It's an annual celebration of the power of reading aloud. At Pageticker, we firmly believe in the importance of reading aloud, which is why teachers can record differently types of reading on our programmes.
How could you celebrate World Read Aloud Day?
Read aloud to and with your class.
If you can, encourage other teachers, parents or other children to read their favourite books or texts aloud.
Encourage pupils to share their writing aloud.
Use Reading Champions as book buddies.
Consider taking it a step further by encouraging pupils to read with expression through drama.
Take part in free online read alouds. Lit World are running some of these.
Make sure parents know about the value of reading aloud. Consider hosting a reading cafe. Here are some of our tips for encouraging parents to read aloud.
Try and mix up the texts used, it could be a graphic novel, it doesn't have to be a book.
Reading Aloud and Pageticker
Pageticker is a digital reading record, designed to embed a reading-for-pleasure culture in your school. Parents log their child’s reading quickly-and-easily using our free app; a web-based teacher dashboard uses this data to help track their progress through reading schemes and recommend exciting and appropriate books for them to enjoy. Try Pageticker for free today!
At Pageticker, we encourage parents to log different types of reading, from independently to reading with their child. Sign up here if you would like more information or to take part in a school/class pilot.
